Give Back To Goole

Time and time again, amateur boxing has proven to be highly beneficial to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them to learn discipline, stay out of trouble and to go on to lead rewarding, successful lives.

And we’ve certainly seen this in Goole. After Goole Amateur Boxing Club (GABC) opened its doors in 2021, figures from Humberside Police demonstrate a notable drop in antisocial behaviour and a reduction in the number of Asbos issued.

But it’s not just young people the club is helping. GABC runs classes for people of all ages, ranging from those who want to lose some weight and be healthier to those who dream of being world champions.

Vitally, GABC also runs classes for people living with Parkinsons’s Disease – a condition known to be helped by boxing – supporting them to lead healthier, more independent lives.

In this sense, GABC is a true community asset that welcomes all who come through the door.

Securing the future

The success of GABC has now generated its own challenge – we have outgrown our current premises.

But there is a solution - one which will secure the long-term future of the club, enabling it to help even more people.

We have the opportunity to buy the building we are in, plus the building next door, creating a permanent home for GABC.

But to achieve this, we need your help.

To purchase both buildings, along with a much-needed refurbishment programme, the trustees need to raise a total of £225,000 before the end of the year.

We won’t be able to raise this money through grassroots support – as valuable as that is – so we are asking corporate partners to get involved and help secure the future for GABC.
