Andrew Horncastle MBE DL
Trustee
Andrew Horncastle is a respected local businessman and former High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire. Deeply rooted in the community, Andrew has dedicated much of his time to supporting local organisations and initiatives aimed at improving life across the region.
Having attended school in nearby Howden during the 1970s, Andrew holds a lifelong passion for seeing the area thrive. He recognises the challenges faced by Goole and its surrounding communities, particularly the impact of deprivation and the decline in youth provision, which has left many young people with limited opportunities outside school. Andrew believes strongly that young people are the future of the region and that investing in them is key to long-term prosperity.
Through his previous role as Chair of Hull’s St Paul’s Boxing Club, Andrew witnessed firsthand the transformative power of sport in helping young people build confidence, discipline, and purpose. He saw how boxing, in particular, can help shape character and create future “champions” within their own communities.
Now, working alongside a dedicated team of Trustees and Coaches, Andrew is committed to bringing those same positive opportunities to young people in Goole and Howdenshire — inspiring the next generation to achieve their potential and contribute to a stronger, more vibrant region.

Graham Cross
Trustee
As one of the founding trustees of Goole Amateur Boxing Club CIO, I was involved in supporting the establishment of the charity after seeing the valuable role a local boxing club could play in the community. I’m passionate about supporting opportunities that help young people and adults develop confidence, discipline, and healthy lifestyles. As a trustee, I’m proud to support the club’s mission to create a welcoming, supportive space where everyone has the chance to grow — both in and out of the ring.
